Applestar's vibrant eyes gleamed softly in the morning sun as she stood outside the warriors den, an old abandoned fox den from many seasons before. Her tail twitched softly, back and forth as she sat her Virgil. Her thoughts had wandered over the warm night, but not far from a singular though in particular. That seemed to be that that one thought was on all the leader's minds as the first moon of new leaf spread on, and though it would seem that one simple doing would silence these thoughts, and leave the cats in peace, though none of the leaders would dare suggest it. As Applestar sat, the sound of paw steps inspired her to breath in the air around her only to find the sent of her deputy. "Good morning Lightstorm," her elegant female voice was soft, though cracked with her slumber-less night. Light storm said nothing, only drifted up beside her and sat, looking out pointlessly like she had for the dying night. Applestar said nothing in return to his silence until several moments had passed and she could no longer hold back her question. "Lightstorm," she had to pause in search for words, "what of Swanfeather? What is it that has happened to her, I was not yet born at the time of her capture and I know little of her. But you, you're her sister's companion, you should know more then I," she spilled quickly, trying to find the right way yo ask was taking her much too long, and though she knew the subject was touchy for him and his family, for any of the cats who had delt with her really, she had to find out what was going on. It was her job as leader. Again Lightstorm was silent, but his head had bowed and it was obvious that he was acknowledging her by thinking of what to say, and how to say it. Then, for the first time since the night had fallen, which was hours before, Light storm spoke openly. "Swanfeather was only born 18 moons before you, though by her age then, she would have been the size you are now," the tom said softly. "She was a sweetheart, I remember Wolfsong telling me how she missed her sister so, and how she wished those evil rogues would have never taken her, even though my father had taken Wolfsong. Both the sisters were separated and taken by two different rogue packs, though only one survived." Apple star looked confused, she had heard the story of Wolfsong's capture by Lightstorm's former pack, and of how the two became companions there and returned to live a live within the clan, but never had anyone spoke of Swanfeather's capture. Not many really knew what had happened to the large, powerful kit, but it seemed that if she were still alive now, then really, two had survived. "What do you mean, 'only one survived'," she asked, turning her head to face her deputy, "Surely Swanfeather couldn't have died!" Lightstorm shook his head, "of course not, but she was not the same after she came back late moon, she had changed for the worst." Applestar looked back at her paws. She was the leader and she didn't even know the threat in which both her own clan's cat and other's were in danger of. She had never met, nor seen Swanfeather before. Lightstorm looked up at the sun rising over the mountain and for another few moments, either cats spoke. "They tortured her," Lightstorm finally said, "I believe they worked the true life right out of her with training far beyond that any other cat has ever faced, and I think its done something to her now." "Does Wolfsong know anything? She was speaking to Swanfeather before she was attacked wasn't she?" "Yes," Lightstorm meowed, "Wolfsong said that Swanfeather had killed the entire pack after realizing her strengths, became sort of aware of just how much damage she could do. Wolfsong refuses to tell me what else Swanfeather said, says its too horrible to mention ever again." Applestar sighed, "but with out enough information, cats wandering out in the forest will get hurt, or killed." Lightstorm snorted, "the likely chance of them surviving an attack from a cat that big is next to impossible, had Thunderclaw, Whisperbrook, and I not been there to back Wolfsong up, she would be dead." "How big exactly is this cat?" Applestar asked, sifting her paws. The legend of the vast size of Swanfeather had been great even before her return, but now? How much bigger could this cat be? Lightstorm stopped to ponder for a moment before answering. "At least three times your size, and bigger then any cat ever seen, by long shot." Applestar shuttered, her pelt tingling as the warm sun rose higher and the sound of cats waking made her lower her voice. "Do you think she will just head for mountains and leave before the other clans catch scent of her?" She asked. Lightstorm's eyes went cold at that moment and he glanced around as cat started to pull themselves from the den behind the two cats. "I don't think she has any intension of leaving without destroying every-single-one of us living here," the handsome tom said in a hushed whisper before turning to greet his companion as she emerged from the warriors den, followed by her children. Apple star turned to look out at the forest again. If this wasn't the end, it surely would be the beginning, and it didn't look all too good a beginning at all.
